Haunted Attractions
Moundsville is often called one of the most haunted places in America. Take a trip to explore the paranormal and spooky local events.
West Virginia Penitentiary
Experience the chilling thrill of stepping into the dark corridors of history at The Former West Virginia Penitentiary. Once a notorious site of violence and despair, this haunted attraction beckons daring souls to explore its haunted halls, attracting paranormal investigators and ghost hunters seeking spine-tingling encounters with the supernatural. Dare to brave the echoes of the past and uncover the secrets that linger within these walls.
Whitegate Cemetery
Aptly called “The Tombs of the Unclaimed Prisoners”. This is the final resting place for dozens of prisoners from the West Virginia Penitentiary who had no claims to their remains after their passing. Please note: Cemetery closes at dusk. Do not trespass on private property. Water crossing *on foot* to get into the cemetery.
The Ross House
Investigate during a 2-hour tour or stay the night, if you dare! The Ross House was built in 1895 and sits on a lae line. The area was an active battle grounds during the French and Indian War and later in history there was a tragic mine fire that claimed the lives of 42 men. Many lingering spirits make themselves known in the house.
2 hour tours are available as well as overnight stays. Requests to tour or stay can be made at 740-232-4544
